Complementing its comprehensive agenda of advancing spine health, education, research and advocacy, the North American Spine Society boasts several special initiatives and affiliations:
- World Spine Society
The World Spine Society was formed to improve the care of people with spinal disorders worldwide by bridging the gap for spine professionals around the world. NASS is proud to help support the World Spine Society in these efforts. www.worldspine.org
- National Association of Spine Specialists
The National Association of Spine Specialists serves as the advocacy arm of the North American Spine Society. The Association advocates in the legislative and regulatory arenas to promote public policies that protect members’ ability to practice medicine and give patients access to the specialists and technologies they require for the evidence-based treatment of spine disorders. www.spineadvocate.org
- Alliance of Specialty Medicine
NASS is an active member of this Washington-based, nonpartisan coalition of 11 medical societies representing over 200,000 specialty physicians. www.specialtydocs.org
- ThinkFirst
ThinkFirst was founded in 1986 by neurosurgeons in an effort to decrease preventable accidental injury – the leading cause of childhood death and disability. Much like NASS’ mission, the Foundation advances injury prevention through education, research and policy. www.thinkfirst.org
