Burr Ridge, IL – The North American Spine Society (NASS) today released their annual coding publication, 2010 Common Coding Scenarios for Comprehensive Spine Care.

Using CPT® codes of the 22000 series and 63000 series, the spine care specific coding guide features correct coding for common surgical procedures performed for degenerative disease, deformity and fracture.  The guide also includes correct coding for common medical procedures for injection, pain management, radiology and electrodiagnostic procedures.

New coding scenarios are included in the 2010 edition for the following surgical procedures: XLIF, TLIF, AxiaLIF, Cervical Disc Arthroplasty, and Endoscopically-assisted Discectomy.

The coding guide provides additional coding resources such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) 2010 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, the Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC) list of covered procedures, modifiers, an Operative Procedure Note template, a sample claim appeals letter, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes for medications, and internet resources for related spine care organizations.
