NASS Releases “2012 Common Coding Scenarios” Guide
(Burr Ridge, IL)—To help spine care providers streamline paperwork and receive timely and accurate reimbursements, the North American Spine Society (NASS) just released its 2012 Common Coding Scenarios for Comprehensive Spine Care.
“No spine care practice should be without this easy-to-use guide,” said William Sullivan, MD, Co-Chair of the NASS Coding Committee. “The scenarios are very realistic, with common indications and symptoms, which will help spine care providers quickly and accurately describe, define and document what they do for patients.”
Using CPT® codes of the 22000 and 63000 series and modifiers, this spine care-specific coding guide features the correct coding for common medical procedures for pain management, injections, radiology and electrodiagnostic procedures. The spiral-bound guide also gives the correct coding for common surgical procedures performed for degenerative disease, deformity and fracture.
“In addition to the most current physician fee schedule, the 2012 guide offers extensively updated and realistic coding scenarios in every chapter,” said Christopher Kauffman, MD, Co-Chair of the NASS Coding Committee. “These scenarios include: facet joint nerve blocks, transforaminal epidural injections with ultrasound guidance, neurostimulator pump use, laminotomies/laminectomies, posterior interspinous and posterolateral lumbar fusions, and posterolateral and posterior interbody fusions.”
