Clinical Trial Information

NASS provides, as a service, listing of research opportunities for entities looking for researchers/clinicians. Access to listings is provided to NASS members, who may participate at their discretion, through the Members’ Only side of the NASS Web site. The Research Opportunities page has been created to assist researchers in connecting with NASS members interested in facilitating research, including but not limited to participating in surveys.

NASS Membership Survey Requests –
Proposal Submission

NASS’ Research Survey Review Committee reviews all requests to survey the NASS membership, paying special attention to the following:

  • Whether the topic is relevant to the NASS mission and research goals as outlined by the Board of Directors and Research Council

  • That the topic is of scientific value to the spine care field, either improving or adding to the existing knowledge base

  • Ensuring that the request is not corporate in nature or industry-sponsored

  • That there are no apparent conflicts of interest

  • Whether there are any risks to participants or NASS

Investigators interested in obtaining access to the NASS membership must abide by the following:

  • Opportunities from industry and/or solicitations for survey participation for reimbursement are not permitted.

  • The NASS name will only be used in the methodology description of the study or survey as providing access to NASS members/spine care providers. NASS maintains strict control over the use of the NASS name and logo and has prior approval on all its uses, except for inclusion in the methodology description.

  • Results of the survey will be summarized and submitted for inclusion in the NASS membership magazine SpineLine within three months following the deadline for participation, unless an extension is granted.  The summary will include a report on the actual number of NASS members participating in the survey.

To submit a proposal for consideration by the NASS Research Survey Review Committee, e-mail/fax/submit the following materials to Belinda Duszynski, Senior Manager of Research and Quality Improvement.

Upon approval, the background information provided on the request form shall be posted on a “Members Only” Web page, along with a link to the electronic survey.  Notices of new research opportunities will also be included in the e-news and other relevant NASS publications to alert the membership.

For those investigators who would prefer direct dissemination to the NASS membership via blast e-mail, you may request consideration for direct dissemination when submitting your materials.  Proposals for direct dissemination will be reviewed quarterly, and up to one survey per quarter will be selected for direct dissemination.  Those not selected will still be eligible for inclusion on the “Members Only” Web page.  Deadlines for submission of survey proposals are as follows:  March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31.
