CMS Approves Medicaid Section 1135 Waivers March 25, 2020

CMS Announces Expansion of Accelerated and Advance Payments for Medicare Providers  March 30, 2020
In order to assist Medicare providers experiencing decreased cash flow due to COVID-19, CMS has announced expansion of their accelerated and advance payment program through the duration of this public health emergency. This program provides payments when there are disruptions in claims submission and/or processing.

Non-Essential Surgery
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that all elective surgeries, non-essential medical, surgical, and dental procedures be delayed during the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. March 18, 2020

Telemedicine
AMA releases special CPT coding advice for COVID-19 including guidance on reporting telehealth services. March 25, 2020

In response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, CMS has waived certain Medicare telehealth regulations to protect the health of the elderly and people with disabilities. As part of The Telehealth Services During Certain Emergency Periods Act of 2020, passed by Congress and signed into law, Medicare will cover and pay for telehealth services provided to all beneficiaries related to all care and conditions including coronavirus-related care. CMS is also waiving HIPAA guidelines to allow use of any cell phone with audio and video capabilities to be used to provide telehealth at this time.
