This comprehensive hands-on cadaveric workshop will feature basic and advanced lumbar spinal injection techniques. Experienced faculty provide formal didactic, hands-on skills lab training and round table case discussions to improve knowledge regarding patient selection and injection techniques. The workshop will cover lumbar epidural steroid injections, facet injections, sacroiliac joint injections, transforaminal injection/selective nerve blocks, medial branch blocks and lumbar RFA. Participants will also learn risks associated with these procedures and how to avoid them.

What You Will Learn

Upon completion of this course, participants should gain strategies to:

Summarize the role of each injection in the overall care and rehabilitation of the spine patient;

Describe contraindications to the performance of the procedure;

Assess potential complications associated with each procedure;

Differentiate technical parameters in the performance of each procedure;

Demonstrate anatomy and safe radiological principles involved in each injection;

Gain insight into the correct coding procedures for commonly used injection codes.


NASS courses are created to enhance physician understanding of the complexity of performing these procedures only. The course is not designed to certify that attendees are proficient in the procedures taught in the course. NASS strongly advises participants to continue to have proctoring, mentoring and additional experience prior to treating patients.


This course is for Physicians Only. Due to the risks associated with these procedures, NASS Interventional/Injection courses are intended only for Board Certified or Board Eligible physicians either in a fellowship training program, or in practice.

In accordance with guidelines recommended by the CME Committee and adopted by the Board of Directors, physicians in the following specialties only may enroll in this course: Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Radiology, Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, and Neurosurgery.

Our Policy

Meeting Cancellation: NASS reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or reformat (including to digital form) programs due to circumstances beyond its control or close registration when programs are oversubscribed. For these reasons, registrants are advised against purchasing non-refundable airline tickets. NASS is not responsible for penalties incurred as a result of cancelled transportation fares, hotel reservation policies or Visa rejection/refusals.

Attendee Cancellation: Cancellation must be submitted via email by December 30, 2022 to receive a full refund less cancellation processing fee of $175. Registrations are not transferable and there are no substitutions.

Health Guidelines: If health guidelines change in Illinois, I will be required to adhere to all health guidelines accordingly. Guidelines may include, but not limited to, facial masks, social distancing, attestation to being fully vaccinated or will have a negative COVID-19 lab results within 72 hours of meeting arrival.

COVID-19 Assumption of Risk and Waiver: Attendee assumes all risks and accepts sole responsibility for any injury (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that attendee may experience or incur in connection with attending the NASS 2023 Lumbar Spinal Injections Meeting.
