Spine Surgery Fellowship Match Application Now Open for August 2024 Fellowships

The online application site for the Spine Surgery Fellowship Match is now open for the 2022-2023 fellowship cycle (fellowships to begin in August 2024). Trainees who are interested in participating in a fellowship through this program are encouraged to review the application instructions and fellowship directory found on the NASS website and apply online at by the September 7, 2022 target date.

Applicants must be eligible for Board Certification in Orthopaedic Surgery or Neurosurgery. Certain programs only accept applications from physicians eligible for United States or Canadian Board Certification; please check each individual program description to determine if the program accepts applications from individuals eligible for Certification in your country.

Documents required to apply include:
  • Completed CAS application form (online submission);
  • Personal statement;
  • CV;
  • USMLE Step 1/COMPLEX 1 or equivalent;
  • Letter of good standing;
  • And three letters of reference.
The Spine Surgery Fellowship Match was established in 2008. Its goal is to coordinate fellowship appointments, thus relieving the pressure of uncoordinated appointments and forced early choices. The participating programs will not make any appointments until the match has been completed in April 2023.
