We’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of Choosing Wisely®.
In April 2012, the ABIM Foundation joined forces with nine medical specialty societies to launch the Choosing Wisely® campaign, which encouraged clinicians and patients to engage in conversations about avoiding unnecessary tests, treatments or procedures.
Over the past 10 years, the effort has garnered the participation of over 80 medical specialty societies who have published more than 600 recommendations of overused tests and treatments that clinicians and patients should discuss.
NASS started participating with Choosing Wisely® in 2012. Since participating, the Choosing Wisely® campaign has helped NASS promote conversations between clinicians and patients to choose care that is supported by evidence, not duplicative of other tests or procedures, free from harm, and truly necessary.
