The online application site for the Spine Surgery Fellowship Match is now open for the 2021-2022 fellowship cycle (fellowships to begin in August 2023). Trainees who are interested in participating in a fellowship through this program are encouraged to review the application instructions and fellowship directory found on the NASS website
and apply online at www.sfmatch.org
Applicants must be eligible for Board Certification in Orthopaedic Surgery or Neurosurgery. Certain programs only accept applications from physicians eligible for United States or Canadian Board Certification; please check each individual program description to determine if the program accepts applications from individuals eligible for Certification in your country.
Documents required to apply include:
- Completed CAS application form (online submission);
- USMLE Step 1/COMPLEX 1 or equivalent;
- Letter of good standing;
- Three letters of reference;
- and distribution list.
The Spine Surgery Fellowship Match was established in 2008. Its goal is to coordinate fellowship appointments, thus relieving the pressure of uncoordinated appointments and forced early choices. The participating programs will not make any appointments until the match has been completed in April 2022.
