The NASS Board of Directors recently approved a request by the Committee on Ethics & Professionalism to name their Board position in honor of David J. Rothman, PhD.
Dr. Rothman served on the NASS Board of Directors as its Ethicist for nine years. During his tenure as Ethicist, he and wife Sheila were instrumental in guiding the Society through complex issues on relationships between NASS, physicians and industry. With his guidance, NASS developed policies to ensure that conflicts of interest related to Society leadership and activities are disclosed and appropriately managed. Dr. Rothman died on August 30, 2020 at his home after a long cancer illness.
