AMA Guides® Alert–AMA Guides Sixth 2022 update to focus on mTBI and spine


AMA Guides Sixth 2021 Implementation
On April 1, AMA Guides Sixth 2021 was released on AMA EdHub™. The AMA considers AMA Guides Sixth 2021 to be the most current version of AMA Guides Sixth as of July 1, 2021.

For 2022, the AMA Guides Editorial Panel is reviewing proposals to update the sections on spine and emotional and behavioral impairment associated with neurological disorders.

AMA Guides Sixth 2022
Conceptual Foundations and Philosophy (Chapter 1) and Practical Application of the Guides (Chapter 2) are being updated to describe the new evidence-based editorial process and approach to incorporate the most current science and evidence. These updates are intended to assist physicians in communicating with the legal community the science and evidence behind impairment ratings and reports. A public comment period is anticipated to begin in early September.
