NASS, along with the Alliance of Specialty Medicine, joined forces with over 120 national and state organizations in sending a
letter to Congress advocating for the inclusion of an inflation adjustment for Medicare clinician payments starting in 2025. Earlier this year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services proposed a 2.8% reduction to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor for 2025. This proposed cut would be particularly challenging as it comes alongside a projected 3.6% rise in medical practice costs, as indicated by the Medicare Economic Index. The coalition's letter underscores the persistent financial difficulties faced by clinicians under the current Medicare physician fee schedule. It stresses the urgent need for permanent reforms to ensure that healthcare providers can maintain stability and continue offering high-quality, timely care to beneficiaries.
