Since 1989, NASS has funded more than $5.5 million in grants and traveling fellowships for spine-related research. For the 2026 cycle, NASS is proud to announce $196,313 awarded in the form of (6) Research Grants and (3) Traveling Fellowships – the most funding NASS has awarded annually in over a decade.
Winners were selected by the NASS Research Funding Committee and Evidence Analysis & Research Council and approved by the NASS Executive Committee. At the 2026 Annual Meeting in San Antonio, the winners will be announced during the award ceremony on October 15th at 9:15 a.m.
These awards are made possible through the generosity of NASS membership, nonmember donors and the spine industry. NASS retains full control of research award selection. Specific individuals or corporations do not have influence over the selection of recipients. NASS dedicates 100% of Annual Research Fund (ARF) contributions directly to funding research, including all individual, corporate, and Orthopedic Research Endowment Fund (OREF) donations.
