NASS was honored to participate in the 20th Brazilian Spine Society Congress, held April 18-21, 2026, in Curitiba, Brazil. The four-day congress featured scientific sessions, case discussions, research presentations, and hands-on cadaver labs covering topics such as minimally invasive surgery, robotics, deformities, trauma, tumors, and complication management. Beyond the scientific content, the event also emphasized networking, professional exchange, and international partnerships aimed at strengthening the global spine community.

The congress opened with a panel featuring Alexandre Fogaça Cristante, President of the Brazilian Spine Society; Emiliano Vialle, President of CSBC 2026; Miguel Akkari, President of the Brazilian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology; Ronald de Lucena Farias, representing the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery; and William Mitchell, President of NASS.
During the opening session, Dr. Mitchell expressed his appreciation for the continued partnership between NASS and the Brazilian Spine Society, recognizing Brazil as the largest international membership base within NASS. He noted that the relationship has been built over many years through shared efforts in education, research, and leadership development, and has since been further strengthened through strategic agreements and programs that promote continued collaboration and mutual growth.

NASS was also represented at the congress by Past President Jeffrey Wang, Secretary Patrick Hsieh, and members Richard Guyer and Jack Zigler.
