Join experts from academia and industry for a special one-day session,
Biologic Interventions for Spinal Pathologies: Stems Cells, Grafts, Growth Factors and Novel Therapeutics, held May 9 in Chicago at the Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile.
Spinal biologics is rapidly evolving and being recognized for its potential to treat challenging painful conditions. While the roles of both nonoperative and surgical treatment are relatively well-defined in the algorithm of spine care, the indications, risks, and concerns regarding biologics for a variety of spinal conditions have not been agreed upon. Because of the differences in regulatory pathways for many of these products, the availability of data is variable, making administrative decision-making difficult.
This meeting will bring together exciting minds from academia and industry to discuss the pertinent technologies and relevant issues in biologics use for spinal conditions.
Participants will gain strategies to:
- Discuss the current evidence for different types of graft materials
- Comprehend the concepts and initial treatments of disc restoration
- Broaden their knowledge on current drivers for fusion success, use of novel technologies and complexities behind biologics approvals.
Topics will include:
- Osteobiologics: Why Do We Struggle with Understanding the Evidence?
- Seeing Fusion: So Many Metrics but No Consensus
- Following the Rules and Understanding What the Investors Want
- Old Fashioned and New School: Allograft/Human Tissue Product and DBM
- Bioactive Materials for Spine Fusion
- Growth Factor and Protein Based Osteobiologics
- Non-Osteobiologic Contributors to Spine Fusion
- Regenerative/Restorative Technologies
- Osteobiologics Think Tank: How Do We Move the Needle with Osterbiologics?
