Outstanding Paper Awards

The Spine Journal and NASS created the Outstanding Paper Awards in 1989 to recognize excellence in unpublished research in spine care.​​

Categories

Each year, NASS and The Spine Journal offer up to four awards of $10,000 to recognize excellence in unpublished spine care research in four categories:

  • Basic Science

  • Surgical Science

  • Medical & Interventional Science

  • Value in Spine Care

Dates & Details


  • Deadline for The Spine Journal’s 2017 Outstanding Paper Awards entries is February 15, 2017.

  • All entries are reviewed for publication in The Spine Journal and must not be submitted to another journal while under consideration at TSJ.

  • The competition is open to all authors; NASS membership is not required.

  • Winning manuscripts receive a $10,000 prize. Winning authors are asked to present their papers and will be honored during the NASS Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL. The 2017 awards will be presented Thursday, October 26, 2017.

  • Guidelines for submitting original research are available in The Spine Journal’s Instructions for Authors.
