Evidence-Based Medicine Training


Two Webinars per Year: Spring and Fall

Develop skills in critically analyzing study methodologies and assigning levels of evidence to studies based on how they are being utilized to answer a specific clinical question.

Complete this interactive online training on the fundamentals of evidence-based medicine (EBM) in the comfort of your home or office. This course combines recorded didactic presentations that may be watched anytime, homework assignments, and a live webinar to allow for practice in critiquing studies and assigning levels of evidence.

Completion of this course meets the EBM training requirement for participation on all NASS committees for which EBM training is strongly encouraged or required.

Course participants must complete all of the following steps in order to receive credit. Homework assignments must be completed by the deadline in order to participate in the webinar and earn CME and EBM Course credit. Homework extensions will NOT be granted and late homework submissions will not be accepted.

Define evidence-based medicine, appreciating the importance of the integration of all three components in its practice: best research evidence, clinical expertise and patient value

Construct answerable questions to assist in identifying relevant evidence

Perform computer searches of electronic databases of clinical research literature

Evaluate clinical value of research from an evidence-based perspective

Define different types of studies, their strengths and limitations

Determine levels of evidence and how they are applied based upon the type of clinical question being addressed
