Overview

As a benefit of membership with the North American Spine Society (NASS), members can share research surveys with the spine care community to gather insights, support studies, and advance the field. Submit your survey to be featured on this page, where members can discover and participate in relevant research opportunities.

  • Surveys must be directly related to advancing knowledge or practices in spine care or related fields.
  • Clearly state the purpose of the research and its potential benefit to the community.

Transparency and Disclosure

  • Disclosure is required and must adhere to NASS disclosure requirements ( view disclosure policy).
  • Disclose all professional relationships.
  • Provide full disclosure of the researcher’s identity, affiliations, and funding sources, if any.
  • If the survey is part of a larger study or sponsored research, include this information.

Confidentiality and Privacy

  • Include a statement about how the collected data will be used, stored, and protected, as well as if and how artificial intelligence will be used in the collection or analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and obtain institutional review board (IRB) approval, if required.

Survey Content

  • Ensure survey questions are professional, respectful, and free from bias.
  • Avoid including content that could be construed as promotional, unethical, or unrelated to the survey’s stated purpose.

Survey Distribution

  • Surveys should be distributed only through designated channels provided by NASS.
  • Do not use NASS member directories or contact information for mass solicitation outside of approved platforms.

Acknowledgment of Disclaimer

  • Acknowledge and, when feasible, incorporate the following disclaimer into the survey communication: "This survey is independent and not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by NASS. Participation is entirely at your discretion."

Response Follow-up

  • Do not pressure members for responses or send repeated communications.
  • Offer participants the option to request feedback or results from the survey if feasible.

Review Process

  • Submissions are reviewed for completeness, relevance, and compliance with NASS policies. NASS does not evaluate scientific merit.
Note: Any violation of these guidelines will be referred to NASS’ Professional Conduct & Ethics Committee for appropriate disciplinary action.
