Nominating Committee


The Nominating Committee presents nominations for the offices of Second Vice-President, and as needed, Secretary, Treasurer, and the chair of the Membership Committee, if needed. It also handles At Large Member nominations every three years.

Who We Are

The Nominating Committee is comprised of the Immediate Past President (who shall also serve as the Committee’s Chairperson), First Vice President, Second Vice President, and three members of the Society who are not on the Board of Directors; a non-operative member (two year term), a surgical member (one year term), a surgical or non-surgical member (one year term). In the event of a tie, the President shall temporarily sit on the Nominating Committee for the purpose of casting the tie-breaking vote.

Qualifications

The qualifications of a Nominating Committee member are:

  • Level 1 Divestiture
  • NASS member for 5+ years
  • Committee/Section, Faculty or Program Chair Experience
  • CV and Bio sent to Mary Siuty

In the beginning of each year, NASS issues a call for nominations or you can self-nominate. All nominations are due by April 30th of that year to be considered for terms beginning at the Annual Meeting of the same year. Any nominations that come in after April 30th of that year will go into the application pool for the following year.


What We Do

The Nominating Committee meets via teleconference within 30 days of the Annual Meeting Business Meeting to vote on the candidates for Second Vice-President, and as needed Secretary and Treasurer. There will be no limit to the number of teleconferences and the committee may meet in person at the Annual Meeting, if needed.
