As we work through these times, NASS is planning to continue its long tradition of offering a collegial, interactive event to share experiences, reconnect with colleagues, hear and see the latest science and innovations, and earn CME.

Notifications are sent via email to submitting authors on or before April 1, 2020. Please contact education@spine.org with any questions.

To assist our international attendees with their visa request, you may print a letter of invitation to attend NASS 2020. Those traveling to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program now need to obtain approval through the USA's Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before traveling.

A letter of invitation does NOT guarantee the issuance of a visa. The decision to issue a visa is the sole judgment of the local U.S. Embassy or Consulate. The Society is unable to assist with the actual visa processing. Unfortunately, the Society cannot provide any financial support for travel, registration fees, or local expenses.

**onPeak is the official housing partner for the 2020 NASS Annual Meeting**

Meeting registration MUST be completed in order to secure housing for the Annual Meeting. Participants will not be permitted hotel reservations until their meeting registration is complete. NASS will monitor the housing reservations list to make sure that all individuals with reservations also are officially registered for the Annual Meeting. NASS reserves the right to cancel reservations that do not meet these criteria.

Yes, you can register and obtain housing online via the NASS Annual Meeting website. Members can register beginning Tuesday, April 14, 2020; non-members can register beginning Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

There will be no Speaker Ready Room at NASS 2020. Course, symposia and special presentations speakers may upload presentations at the Speaker Information Center (SIC) in Upper Level- Outside Room 6A.

Instructional Course Faculty, Symposia Faculty and Special Presentations Speakers (OPAs, Research Awards): Instructional Course/Symposia faculty and Special Presentation speakers should bring their presentations to the Speaker Information Center in the Upper Level- Outside Room 6A at least one hour prior to the start of the session. Speakers will not be permitted to use their own laptops for their presentations.

Podium and ePosters Presentations: Presentations must be uploaded to the Submission Management System (http://sms.spine.org) between July 15 and August 26. Required changes from the Content Review process will be forwarded by email to Presenting Authors.

Changes to Podium and ePoster Presentations will NOT be permitted after August 26, unless required by the content review process.

Symposia and instructional course presentations may be uploaded or amended at any time during the meeting.

The OnDemand Video Library allow users to have 24/7 access to all presentations, which include: electronic posters, scientific sessions, symposia, abstracts, featured lectures and more. Presentations are archived with video and audio fully synchronized to slide presentations.

By purchasing the OnDemand Video Library, session recordings are available no more than two weeks after the Annual Meeting has ended. You will be able to access the sessions at www.spine.org/cme. Usernames and passwords can be requested from the login page.

OnDemand sessions are a NASS Member benefit! If you are a NASS member and attend the Annual Meeting, all session recordings will be available to you at no additional cost.

Please note: The Presidential Guest Speaker’s presentation will not be available with the recordings due to copyright restrictions.

The North American Spine Society is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.

The North American Spine Society designates this live activity for a maximum of 25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The American Medical Association has determined that physicians not licensed in the US who participate in these CME activities are eligible for AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits™. (Exact number of credit hours subject to change.)

Physician Assistants:The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts Category 1 credit from AOACCME, prescribed credit from the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit™ for the Physician’s Recognition Award from organizations, such as NASS, accredited by the ACCME.

Nurse Practitioners: The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

NASS is proud to offer continuing education to accommodate attendees’ certification requirements. NASS will be applying for the following types of CE credits:

Nurses: NASS will apply for approval from AXIS Medical Education for nursing CE credit.

Chiropractors: NASS will apply for DC CE credits through National University of Health Sciences for select states.

Physical Therapists: NASS will apply for PT CE credits for select states.

To request NASS apply for CE credits for your state, contact education@spine.org.

Other health care providers’ requirements vary, so please contact your licensing organization for their requirements.

Registration will remain open throughout the meeting.

All attendees are required to pick up their badges on-site with photo identification. A confirmation email with barcode will be emailed after you register for the meeting. Please bring the confirmation letter with you to print your badge at the “Already Registered” kiosk. If registering as a student or resident in training, identification is also required to pick up your badge.

The committee has already selected the abstracts and session proposals. You may submit your abstract or symposium for the 2021 Annual Meeting between October 1, 2020 and February 4, 2021. Look for information at the NASS Resource Center or on our submission website.

In the unfortunate event that NASS must cancel the in person portion of NASS 2020 Annual Meeting in San Diego, your meeting registration will automatically be transferred to the digital event format and if that is not available, you can choose one of the following options:

  • NASS will transfer your NASS 2020 registration fee to a future NASS course, meeting or membership dues. Fee must be used no later than NASS 2021 in Boston, MA from September 29 – October 2, 2021.
  • NASS will refund the full NASS 2020 registration fee without penalty.
COVID-19 Meeting Registration Cancellation:
If you need to cancel due to travel ban from your institution, a letter from your institution listing such ban must be supplied in order to process your request. If you need to cancel due to a travel ban instituted by your local, state, federal or country government, a letter stating such ban must be supplied in order to process your request. Registration fee can be refunded or transferred to a future NASS course or meeting. Fee must be used no later than NASS 2021 in Boston, MA from September 29 – October 2, 2021.

General Meeting Registration Cancellation:
Cancellations must be submitted in writing via mail or email and postmarked on or before September 3, 2020 to receive a refund less cancellation processing fee(s) of conference $125; Hands-On Workshop $75; Instructional Course $25; One-Day Registration $50; and/or Guest Social Hour $10.  No refunds after September 3; regardless of cause. NASS reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or reformat (including to digital form) programs due to circumstances beyond its control or close registration when programs are oversubscribed. For these reasons, registrants are advised against purchasing non-refundable airline tickets. NASS is not responsible for penalties incurred as a result of cancelled transportation fares, hotel reservation policies or Visa rejection/refusals. Written, verbal, or fax notice of cancellation will be given within five (5) working days of the actual date of the program whenever possible. NASS reserves the right to modify this policy at any time.

Hands-on cadaver-based ticketed courses will be offered at NASS 2020 and are available to physicians only. The courses will be held at the convention center. Please check your registration confirmation letter for specific course/room locations. These hands-on courses have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits™.

All instructional courses are ticketed sessions; tickets session registration fees are not included with your general meeting registration fee.
